Day trip from SXM, passport safety

Planning a day trip to Anguilla from SXM and I know we need to bring our passports for the ferry, but is it generally safe to leave our bags with our passports and everything at a beach chair while we go in the water?

The thought of that makes me a little nervous. We could take turns going in the water but that doesn’t sound like much fun. What’s everyone else doing with their stuff?

Going on 8 months unemployed at 40 with no end in sight

I’ve been aggressively applying to jobs since the beginning of the year and have gotten only 6 interviews, and have only made it to the final round once, but got rejected. Idk what more i can do. All day and all night i check all the major job boards, search on google and on staffing agency sites, check emails obsessively. Anything I can do to catch the ads as soon as they’re posted to try to be one of the early applicants.

Besides the job market being horrible, the fact that I don’t have a college degree is really killing me. Last time i had to search for a job was in 2020 and I was able to find something within 2 months, including interview and negotiation time. I had 6 years of experience in my field at the time, and had worked my way up to supervisor at my prior job, and I was getting consistent replies and had multiple interviews scheduled per week and felt like I had options.

Now I have 12 years of experience in my field and have so much more listed on my resume, including management experience, and my inbox is full of generic denial emails. I cant even get a reply for lower paying entry level jobs bc if they require a bachelors, it seems like I’m automatically disqualified. The recruiters are even refusing to present me to their clients when the role says “bachelors preferred”, even if all other requirement are meet or exceeded. I was told that they have so many applicants that they’re only considering those who meet both the required and preferred qualifications.

I can’t believe that I’m struggling this much, especially at this age and with all of my experience. I’m not giving up, but it’s really feeling hopeless.
