I’m part of the UCDC cohort, so they require us to sign a contract to get housing for the summer. I have to go regardless if I get an internship or not, which sucks because I’m essentially paying $$$ to not even work in DC. If I could, I’d just try again in the fall, but the contract part is making me sad.

I’ve applied to so many places and casted a broad net (think tanks, nonprofits, congressional). I’ve attended cover letter/resume workshops and had them reviewed. I practiced interview questions and got feedback on essay questions. I just can’t land an internship and even had a personal connection flag my application 🥹.

I’m still trying to apply to places but I am so burnt out. Are there any other places I should look? Is cold-emailing successful? How would I even go about that since most places in DC have internship positions that passed already? What do I do?

any advice is appreciated 🥲
