I’m currently a freshman in college studying computer science with a data science minor. I plan on getting a masters degree in the future, but I’m not exactly sure what that should be to set me up for the best future in gis. Geospatial Data Sciences? computer science? Envi sci? Geography? I hear so many people talk about how their gis MS did almost nothing for their career other than accumulating debt and I don’t want to do the same. On the other hand I’m also open to studying something different along with CS during my undergrad. What is the best path for someone that has this much time to change and make the most out of their studies?
TLDR; if you were a rising sophomore in college and could study ANYTHING in your undergrad and masters, what would you choose to be the most employable, unreplacable, and have the highest ceiling in the field of gis or anything related.
