What India could learn from Switzerland’s decentralized democracy

What India could learn from Switzerland’s decentralized democracy

I recently watched this video about how Switzerland runs its democracy, and honestly some parts of it feel surprisingly different from India’s system.

The idea of decentralized power, direct democracy, and a 7-member executive instead of one dominant leader was especially interesting. Obviously Switzerland is much smaller and very different from India, but I still think there are lessons worth discussing.

Why Are We Still Carrying 5–10 Different IDs in 2026?

Aadhaar, PAN, Driving Licence, Voter ID, Passport — all asking for almost the same information again and again.

In a digital world, why are Indians still managing multiple identities for every service?

A single secure unified ID system could make banking, taxes, verification, healthcare, travel, and government services much simpler.

Less paperwork.Less duplication.Faster verification.Less bureaucracy.

India already transformed payments with UPI.Maybe identity systems are next.
