Any counselors in DC/MD/VA area worked towards licensing in all three right out if grad school?
I just graduated and am planning to work at a Virginia private practice with Virginia clients but mantain graduate licensing in DC, MD, and VA while paying for outside supervision from someone that is licensed and board approved to supervise in all three places In additi to having a supervisor at the practice only licensed in VA.
I called the DC and MD boards and they confirmed these clinical hours can count towards licensing due to my outside supervisor, but I still feel a bit nervous.. I will likely spend 8-10k on licensing fees and outside supervision over the next few years, and I would be devested to do this only to be denied (am trying to get approval in writing from boards via email now).
I think this stems from the fact that I have not found anyone else in real life, facebook, Reddit, etc. that has done this, and I have read a lot of negative posts around counseling boards in general. A friend was also told the opposite by someone on the MD Board 🤦🏼♀️ and there is not clear guidance on hours from other states on any of the board websites.
So I am curious if anyone here lives in the area and has done this?
I plan to work all virtual and in private practice, so I am doing this to mantain max flexibility in where I can work and with whom and because I will be able to get fully licensed in MD much faster since they take hours from internship.
