I'm looking at getting a car to use for motorway commuting (roughly 200 miles a week). My current options I'm looking at are a petrol TSI 1.5 Skoda Octavia from 2018 or a diesel 1.6 CRDI Hyundai i30. With how much diesel costs in the UK at the moment, is there much benefit in going for the diesel or is the gap between fuel economy in modern petrol/diesel now smaller than it used to be? Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
