Everyone tells you how to prep for race day, training, nutrition, pre and mid race techniques etc, but how do you cope post race? Not in terms of recovery etc, but the huge emotional dump you experience…. Maybe not an issue for the seasoned runners but for me, after my 1st marathon on Sunday gone there, I feel really emotionally exhausted after, got a great buzz on the day and the crowds really carry you through especially during the dark miles when I hit the wall, but once you finish, collect the medal, few hugs and photos with loved ones then bang, it’s all done….. I feel really underwhelmed after all that training and input, and sacrifice leading to the race I feel the pay off doesn’t live up to the hype….. maybe it’s all the lying around trying to recover, just feeling sorry for myself… apologies for the long post, any suggestions guys?
