I've been in Brussels for a few months now and I'm struggling to understand why people work overtime.

As far as I know I can work 120 hours every 6 months that aren't taxed. Not directly anyway. Because the revenue is of course taken into account when calculating the yearly taxes you have to pay, and with how high those can be in Belgium I'm failing to see how working the same hours for so much less money is worth it when I'm losing days that I could be doing something else.

I guess I'm just looking for opinions on this. Do you usually work overtime? And if you do do you think it is worth it?
