What non-patient facing jobs have you transitioned into after leaving or reducing clinical work?

I’m a registered dietitian (RD) with 25 years of experience across various clinical settings & also a freelance health content writer. I’m exploring a transition away from direct patient care into a more non-patient facing role, while still maintaining a little RD work on the side.

I’m especially interested in jobs with strong healthcare benefits, decent work life balance, and long-term stability. Open to healthcare and non-healthcare industries.

Transferable skills:

  • clinical assessment
  • EMR/documentation
  • interdisciplinary collaboration
  • care plan management
  • auditing/quality assurance
  • telehealth
  • behavior change counseling
  • health education
  • customer service
  • health and non-health content writing

For those who’ve successfully pivoted out of direct patient care entirely or have reduced that work, what do you do now?

Those who have a non-RD job with good healthcare benefits —what do you do now?

Especially interested in NON-RD roles with decent work-life balance, autonomy, and solid medical/dental/vision insurance.

How did you come across the job? What keywords did you use?

Fun, easy main job or side job?

Do you have a fun and/or easy main job or side hustle? This does not have to be in dietetics. What do you do?

I’m especially interested in hearing from those of you who are slowing down, transitioning out of the field, or near retirement.
