▲ 3 r/Debt

Hello. I'm in England, UK (relevant as different laws in different places) So my ex (still friends now) took out a personal loan years ago with amigo. I agreed to be guarantor even though at the time I was only on basic benefits I was accepted.

He didn't pay after a few months. I was never contacted about it at all.

Fast forward a couple of years, amigo went bust or something, the debt got bought by lantern.

They contacted him to make payments, he agreed a new payment plan. I was never included in this decision, I was never contacted by lantern about this at all so did not sign anything with lantern agreeing to take responsibility of this new payment plan if he failed to pay etc.

Is this still considered my responsibility?

Am I still liable as the guarantor? I have read conflicting info now. I have read that if it's consistently defaulted and then a new payment plan is made up without my signature then I am not legally liable anymore. There's around £3000 left to pay. He is not in a position to keep paying the agreed amount each month with them.

Thanks
