So many waitlists???

Non-traditional poli sci major, 3.2 overall GPA because of a disastrous first shot at university straight out of high school. After returning almost a decade later, I've earned a 3.8 in the honors program at my local community college. So far my only rejection is from Berkeley. I TAG'd to UCR (no GPA requirement) but the other UCs I applied to have waitlisted me - UCI, SB, LA. I got into a match private school (strong cultural fit, faculty reference, friends with a lot of alum), got waitlisted at a much more selective private (HTCC partner with a 7-8% transfer acceptance rate, 7% first year admit), and am still waiting on another reach private. "Extracurriculars" are close to a decade in directly relevant volunteering as well as good number of years climbing the ladder in the field. Accepting all waitlist positions and sending LOCIs to the ones I really want to but...wtf?? Has anyone else experienced sooo many waitlists? Is poli sci just that impacted? Feeling kind of dumbfounded right now :P
