Diverticulitis, Preforation and SIBO
My husband has a long history of diverticulitis. Like maybe 30 years. His system is really messed up now and we are trying to find the best ways to fix or at least mitigate some of the problems. He has had testing including a gut zoomer test. One doctor described his intestines like Swiss cheese. He has had one documented perforation and probably others not documented. He wound up in the hospital on IV antibiotics for the last one. Surgery was recommended but he decided against it. He has gotten out of the fatal stage from that. He seems to also have symptoms of SIBO which isn’t surprising. Extreme bloating ( although he’s really had that forever). Extremely low B12, Vit D etc. Fatigue, etc. The doctor gave him about 12 different supplements which were probably too many and he had to back off. Now considering Rifaximin but a 14 day course is $2,600 (no insurance). I’m concerned this will only help temporarily. Also tested positive for parasites and took some treatments for that. He is taking Gut Feeling, Vitamins, Tributryn (for low chain fatty acids or something like this). Any other suggestions?
