Asking as a southerner. Do people in northeast England (eg Northumbria, N. Yorkshire, Teeside etc) see themselves as 'northerners', and share an identity with those from the northwest (lancaster, cumbria, merseyside etc), or do they consider themselves pretty seperate? I've found both regions to be pretty distinct, in the same way the southeast is from the southwest.
