No issues after 1.5 years, just some quirks
This remains the best car I've ever owned. 2023 Performance AWD, manufactured DEC 2023, bought DEC 2024 off a dealer - it was a loaner and we were the first people to title it. 5300 mi at purchase, about 19,000 now.
Lifetime efficiency is 3.1mi/kwh. When we got it, it was at 2.9 so my slight "granny" driving inclinations on longer drives has paid off in long term efficiency. I did a long drive on one of the coldest days of the year - think it was about 10 to 15 degrees - at about 70 mph and the efficiency was 2.2mi/kwh that day. Longer drives in warm weather have been as high as 4.6mi/kwh so one should be able to hit 3 to 3.5mi/kwh without much issue.
Quirks/annoyances:
- Too much beeping, too much "helpfulnothelpful" robot nudges. It doesn't like it when a lane goes away, or a lane starts, and will sometimes try to give a driving assist nudge or beep.
- The rear hatch is finicky. If I open it from the dedicated button on the dash, it opens right up, all is well. If I'm not really close and use the button on the fob, same. But if I'm close to the tailgate the not helpful robot brain sometimes will cause the car to beep multiple times and it will open the hatch after too long of a wait - but if I hit the button on the hatch when it is doing that it will flake out. It is almost as if some of the software for the GV60 simply wasn't really ready for prime time yet (I used to code, 35 years ago, and it will be hard to dissuade me from that position of it feeling not ready).
- Apple car play/bluetooth doesn't connect smoothly all the time. That seems not acceptable for a 2023 car. My 2016 Mazda CX5 connects to bluetooth better.
- The seats are not very comfortable - to me - after a longer drive. I don't like to go more than about 90 minutes at a time in it. I can't quite pin down what it is, but they're fine for a short drive...and that's all you do when test driving cars. Again, the Mazda is better for road trips (and I just drove the Mazda 600 miles and my back that is beaten up from the Army was fine).
- EDIT/ADD - I forgot, the facial recognition thing works but I find it isn't any value added, as just having the keys and hitting the button is fast. The fingerprint sensor to load my profile has never worked, at all, and I can't even get it to add my fingerprint. But whatever, it is sort of a gimmick.
Other observations:
A. This is a rare car. I see more Porsche 911 GT3 RSes than GV60s. I've only ever seen one other GV60 in the 1.5 years we've owned this.
B. The dealer is even a little confused what to do with it. When I dropped it off for a tire rotation they made a comment about oil and I reminded them it is an EV. You probably won't be able to get these worked on at anything but a Genesis dealer if there's anything meaningful that needs to be done. Also, though I was the first individual owner they wouldn't support the valet service (something about it being a loaner and I guess the dealer titled it) which I thought was annoying but I wasn't up for a battle with Genesis about it. Some Genesis dealers don't sell their EVs, it seems, so truly make sure that you can get it worked on. Precision Tune probably isn't going to be able to do any real work on these. Hyundai dealers will not - I asked out of curiosity.
C. That said it has had no real issues. There was some recall for a trim piece that could go loose, and that got addressed. Other than that all I've done is rotations every 5k miles. I've observed no battery degradation. I think if you don't go fast you could probably get a lot more than the advertised 235ish mile range in most conditions. Range hasn't been an issue as we've not gone on super long trips - a few day trips where we DC fast charged at the destination, and then returned. Home charging has been 99% of charging via a ChargePoint we installed, and that has worked flawlessly. I charge to 80% unless we're going on a long drive.
