Ok. Hear me out. Whats stopping someone from using WiGE instead of conventional/aerospace fighters for ground support?

I’ve been messing around with custom variants of the Yún ASF for a while (it’s too awesome to be improved upon without just adding clantech sadly), but I had an idea. Why not use a WiGE for the ground insertion/close air support role? It’d be cheaper with less upkeep, but that leads me to my first question: is the swap to motive system damage from asf (or for fairer comparisons, conv. fighter) control rolls and the difference in ease of being hit worth it? Thoughts?

Second question is that of the “pocket dropship,” a concept I had where you take a 240ton support WiGE and cram as many light vehicle bays as you can. (I’ve managed 3, but 2 allows for some extra equipment to be added or weight to be reduced)

What do people think?

Background: I play campaigns. I like low upkeep out of combat. Therefore, I hate fuel consuming vehicles. I also don’t like VTOL’s that much due to rotor shit unless I’m letting myself use Ferro-Lamellor. I like the weight efficiency of WiGEs.

Starlight Line Tank (circa 3088)

This is the first of the designs I’m putting into a fan TRO that I’m making, focused on an AU proxy war between Clan Snow Fox and Clan Snow Raven, with the proxies being nations in the Chainelane Isles. This tank is designed in 3088 for one of the (at the time) Clan Diamond Shark allies, the Paranese Civil Defence Compact. It is manufactured on Paran by the Mourning Stars Enclave, a Paranese Enclave made up of technician caste refugees from the destruction of Clan Blood Spirit. It would eventually be adopted as the main MBT by an alliance of several Chainelane Isles nations when they gather in 3104.

It’s designed to be a heavily armored take-all-comers tank that is easy to transport one advanced for its era and location, without using things so rare as to be prohibitive. It’s also going to have several variants, one for each of the worlds in the alliance, but this is the original.

Please pardon the art, I’m not a visual artist but I do have some experience with orthogonal engineering diagrams, so that’s the form I chose to do this in.
