Leaving Graduate Program

Hi all,

For context, I started a graduate program in March this year at a mid-tier consulting firm in tax. Throughout university, my goal was always to break into M&A (like most finance majors), but things obviously didn’t work out that way initially.

A few weeks ago, on a whim, I applied for an Analyst role in M&A Advisory at a Big 4 accounting firm. I honestly didn’t expect much to come from it, but I ended up progressing through the interviews and recently received an offer.

Although this is great news, I'm really nervous about leaving my current role given I've just commenced my third month as a grad and its really unconventional to be making career switchs this early. I also can’t help but worry that it might leave a sour taste with some of the people in my current team, especially because everyone’s been supportive.

Would love to hear any advice from people who’ve been in a similar position, or from anyone who’s made an early-career move like this. How did you navigate it, and do you think I’m overthinking the timing?
