Did I do this right? First time dad!!

Hi everyone! Took me an hour but my baby girls car seat is officially in the car!!

However I am not sure if I did it right and unfortunately every FD and PD in my area doesn’t do inspections.

I used the latch system at the bottom, made sure it has almost zero movement (less than 1”) and it’s good. BUT I’m not sure if there is anything I need to do with that long strap I’m holding up. Unless the top isn’t supposed to be latched and it’s only the bottom that needs to be secure?

The instructions say to adjust the recline to a 2 for newborns but it still kinda seems a bit too upright. Idk maybe it’s my own paranoia. And of course I just now see the level lines don’t seem to be a perfect match?

Sorry for all the questions! She isn’t here yet but I’m already insanely protective and I have zero regrets! Any advice is greatly appreciated!! ❤️

I installed my baby girls car seat—my first “real dad” thing. Best morning ever.

Wife and I have been trying for years and we (mostly her) went through the IVF route and she is finally pregnant and we are 24 weeks along. Today she asked me to install the car seat so that our dog can get used to it being there.

Took me a full hour and after no texts or call back, a couple of YouTube videos that didn’t help, I finally got it installed by myself :).

Wife came out to check on me because it was taking forever. She saw me staring at it installed and asked me if I was ok. “It took me an hour, but I am very proud to say I figured out how to get my baby girl’s car seat installed.” The TEARS that followed out of nowhere. Holy crap—happy tears, but nonstop for like 10 seconds.

I don’t know what caused that wave of emotion but it’s officially a core memory and it’s one that I will forever live in my heart.

I can’t wait to be a dad.
