Hey all, have a question and would love some advice re switching career!

Background: 30f, have a degree in social work, worked for a couple years but realised it’s not the sector for me, found it way too stressful. The last few months I’ve been trying to figure out what I want to do for the future. To give context - I’m working at a charity now to get by (don’t get me wrong, very passionate about the work but I’m extremely struggling with the paycheck (29k a year- 50% of my last salary).

I’m renting with my partner and I would prefer to get something secure where I can save a little to hopefully in the next 10 years get a mortgage, ( saving max 100 quid a month with this job)

I’ve been thinking of switching to Human Resources - ideally to be an officer, but have been looking at starting in admin to work my way up. I’d love to hear if anyone here works within HR and how they find it, if they have any advice re up-skilling. What’s your day to day like? It seems like such a versatile job!

I would say I have very clear transferable skills : conflict management, report writing, creating confidential reports using online software, and mediating if there is conflict between clients/ staff. I’ve also experience running workshops as well. I see a lot of the requirements within the job descriptions are a degree within Human Resources, or at least 2/3 years within an HR role. Would be grateful for any advice at all!
