Last time I posted here, I met some really lovely people. So I figured I'd try it again!

My name is Regan and I run Eyebright Editing. I work on a freelance base for one of the biggest Korean web novel companies, RIDI Enterprises (parent company of Manta Comics) as a QC editor.

When I'm not working on my translated web novel chapters, I like to take on indie authors, particularly in the genres of romance, fantasy, and sci-fi. My favorite editing task is line editing, where I get to really give the manuscript a nice polish! However, I also do developmental editing, beta reading, and proofreading.

I'm a member of the Editorial Freelancers Association and knowledgeable in the Chicago Manual of style. I have a physical copy of the 18th edition which can be used as a battering ram as needed. This is a very specific problem and I can't find a clear answer online. I want to start a novel editing business. The income would be well under the 48 million threshold and my clients would not be in Korea. I can't figure out if the VAT applies to me or not. Paying 10% of such little revenue would really sting, but editing is already expensive for indie authors so I can't pass that off to them.

I need to register the business in order to get a business account so I can then get access to my PayPal withdrawals (without the 3% charge to send it to my US bank).

Hi all, I’m a QC editor for a large Korean web novel company’s English branch and am looking to make a return to my roots. I have a BA in anthropology with a minor in creative writing (among others). I’ve been writing and editing professionally since graduating college. I really love what I do… but the rise of AI and people calling themselves “editors” when they’re not even remotely qualified… it’s sure rough out here.

So here I am. On a Reddit. Hoping to find some authors with some star-quality books. My experience is in romance, LGBTQ+, fantasy, and sci-fi, but I’ll try anything once if it’s a good fit.

This clan is 281 moons old and without fail, no matter the traits or personality, every single medicine cat will eventually hate each other. If I turn an older cat from warrior to medicine cat, they also will hate all the medicine cats within a few moons even if they were on good terms before. I swear I'm wasting all my mediations to keep them from murdering each other. Any idea what's going on?
