the football has been great but this subreddit has not

One thing this subreddit has taught me is that football fans are some of the biggest degenerates on the internet.

Half of you guys genuinely think you know more than the players and coaches. Every match it’s “Messi is washed,” “Argentina sucks,” “the U.S. is trash,” “the refs are all corrupt!,” or some other take from someone whose greatest athletic achievement is reaching into a fuckin bag of chips.

Anyone here just enjoy watching great football? Everything has to be outrage, conspiracy, or nonstop whining. The amount of crying, victimhood, and performative outrage from fans has honestly been sad to see.

I really hope Rockstar finally commits to realistic gastrointestinal mechanics in GTA VI.

For example, if you eat a gas station salad that had contaminated lettuce, there's a small chance you pick up a parasite. Nothing happens... then like two in-game weeks later you're halfway through a heist, and suddenly you get a controller haptic event and you hear your stomach grumbling.

You have about 20 seconds to find a restroom.

If you don't? You're fucked. NPCs react differently depending on where you are. Your stealth is blown for sure. Your minimap disappears and is replaced with a clenched asshole icon. Keep ignoring it and your character suddenly locks up, yells "I'm sorry," and detonates the most violent pants-shitting event ever rendered in a video game. Instant wanted-level 5 stars.

Other examples:

  • In one mission, bad sushi gives Lucia food poisoning and she unleashes an absolute watery shitstorm.
  • Three gas station burritos in a row permanently reduce sprint speed for the day.
  • Energy drinks + roller coaster = an explosive, wide-area diarrhea event affecting nearby peds.
  • You can hear Jason whisper "I shouldn't have trusted that shrimp."
  • Cheap roadside oysters have a 2% chance of triggering simultaneous vomiting and explosive diarrhea.

I'm tired of developers pretending humans have perfect digestive systems.

The real reason for all the delays

Im an insider. I’m not naming my role, studio, or team, so believe me or don’t.

The real reason GTA VI has been delayed is AI.

Rockstar had a smaller version of the game approaching release around 2022. The story was playable, Vice City was largely built, and the NPC systems were basically an expanded version of Red Dead Redemption 2.

Then leadership became convinced traditional scripted NPCs would feel outdated by launch. That triggered a major technical reset.

Rockstar quietly began building a private AI stack with support from Anthropic. This is not a public chatbot running inside every pedestrian. The main story is still fully written. The AI layer handles NPC memory, dialogue variation, police intelligence, crowd behavior and dynamic world events.

NPCs can remember previous encounters, recognize vehicles, react to crimes and change their behavior based on reputation. Police build an evidence graph using witness statements, cameras, license plates, clothing, weapons and location history rather than instantly knowing who the player is.

The hardest problem was inference cost and latency.

Rockstar built a tiered system. Background NPCs use lightweight local behavior models. Important characters receive larger context windows and access to structured memories stored as embeddings in vector databases.

The system uses retrieval-augmented generation, quantization, speculative decoding, context compression and deterministic fallback dialogue. In early builds, characters hallucinated events, accessed information they should not know and completely broke scripted missions.

That is where NVIDIA, CoreWeave and NBIS became involved.

NVIDIA provided development hardware, neural animation tooling and TensorRT optimization. Training and simulation testing reportedly ran across H100, H200 and later Blackwell systems.

CoreWeave supplied burst GPU capacity for massive automated testing. Thousands of AI-controlled agents repeatedly ran missions, police chases, traffic systems and NPC interactions while intentionally creating edge cases.

NBIS provided additional European compute and data-center capacity so Rockstar was not dependent on a single cloud provider.

The backend uses containerized inference services, Kubernetes orchestration, NVMe caching, distributed object storage, InfiniBand and RDMA networking. Testing generated petabytes of telemetry because Rockstar was no longer testing one mission path. It was testing thousands of possible world states.

The second major delay came after experiments involving xAI.

Rockstar expanded the fictional social-media system so NPCs can record crimes, upload footage, spread rumors and create conflicting versions of events. Viral clips can increase police attention even when officers never witnessed the crime.

The game analyzes simulated camera footage using lightweight computer-vision models. It can identify vehicle type, clothing color, visible weapons and masks. Changing clothes or cars may help, but it does not erase existing evidence.

AI is also used for neural motion matching, pose prediction, crowd simulation, interior variation, damage states and environmental detail. Artists still create the assets. The models generate controlled variations rather than replacing the art team.

The final game will not be an unlimited AI sandbox. Rockstar tried that. It was unstable, expensive and impossible to test.

The goal is a handcrafted GTA story inside a city that appears to remember and process everything the player does.

That is why it has taken so long.

what do you think about Backblaze? BLZE

it’s making a nice run. I use their cloud storage and just happened to notice they are public.

So i bought MUU at close yesterday…

so I made the genius move of buying 10k worth of MUU near the close yesterday. I woke up to the lovely news that I’m down 20%. this is my first time buying a leveraged ETF actually and it turned out really nice!

I mean, this is just classic. I’ve been debating on buying MUU for over a month and I finally pulled the trigger at the worst possible time lmao.

Anyway… I am sort of wondering what I should do now …should I just cut my losses or keep this thing for a little while? I know with leveraged ETFs you aren’t supposed to hold them long.

how is my Roth?

48 years old. my goal is aggressive growth. I’ve been pairing off Nvidia as it climbs, keeping it at the same percentage (25%)

Does any filmmaker own a decade harder than John Hughes?

Absolutely insane run. He defined 80s suburban America for a generation. And then he just fizzled out. When he died in 2009, I felt he didn't get the props he deserved for someone whose movies were that massive.

How did he do this much in 7 years??? Did he burn out?

DIRECTED:
• Sixteen Candles (1984)
• The Breakfast Club (1985)
• Weird Science (1985)
• Ferris Bueller’s Day Off (1986)
• Planes, Trains and Automobiles (1987)
• She’s Having a Baby (1988)
• Uncle Buck (1989)

WRITTEN:
• National Lampoon’s Vacation (1983)
• Mr. Mom (1983)
• Pretty in Pink (1986)
• Some Kind of Wonderful (1987)
• The Great Outdoors (1988)
• Christmas Vacation (1989)
• Home Alone (1990)

Edit: For sure, there are plenty of filmmakers with legendary runs. What blows my mind about John Hughes is the volume. The guy wrote 16 screenplays in seven years. Maybe a few were developed earlier, but still…that’s absurd. Some years he had multiple movies releasing at once.

Spielberg is obviously an all-time great, but a huge chunk of his output in the 80’s was executive producing, which IMO just isn’t the same level of creative grind as writing a screenplay or directing a film yourself.
