Caring for infant after surgery

I’m going to be having my surgery soon. I have a 4 month old baby that exclusively breastfeeds. Are there any moms here that have been able to resume breastfeeding after surgery? How did you handle caring for your baby post op? Any items you suggest to help?

Packed with stones must do the inevitable

I saw a surgeon and have a date set, but I wasn’t thrilled about him. So I have a consult with a new surgeon. My MRCP showed my gallbladder is packed with stones. My attacks are more and more frequent. I’m barely eating, I think it’s time I have it removed. I’m so scared ya’ll. I don’t want the bile dumping or the persistent RUQ pain for the rest of my life. I want a steak again. I know it’s not a useless organ, but I’m terrified my life will be ruined by going through with it. But I don’t have a choice I feel. Any positive stories are appreciated.

Extensive gallstones

Finally my MRCP report came… I’m packed with stones, but nothing is enflamed…. Was anyone else packed with stones and was able to do the organ sparing procedure?

Attack

Tonight I’m having a pretty bad attack. The pain was subsiding but has since returned? Should I go to ER? Tylenol helped but only by so much and I’m going on 4 hours in pain. Not sure I can wait to have the gallbladder preserving surgery as my attacks have become weekly..

Go scope worth it?

I am trying to get all my ducks in a row to have a consult with Dr. S…. From what I’ve read, seems this procedure might not be worth it? I saw some have the stones return rather fast and someone had their gallbladder collapse? I am already barely eating because of attacks, I’m losing so much weight rapidly and my bowel habits have been poorly recently. Is this procedure truly worth it and life changing or is it just stalling an inevitable need to remove my gallbladder?

Real outcomes and experiences

I have gallstones and sludge, had my first really bad attack about 2 weeks ago. It was recommended I have it removed. Since then I’ve completely changed my diet and fear food now. I also fear the surgery and have read horror stories after removal. What is life like after surgery? I’m not necessarily talking about few months but like 1+ years. But I welcome any and all stories. I’m terrified.

1st real attack, what now?

Hello I am a 30 yo female. This morning I experienced my first major gallbladder attack. I’ve had mild/moderate RUQ pain before, but never like this. It started at 1am and felt almost like gas pain but would not go away. Gradually it got worse and radiated to my back. Then it intensified, I got sweaty and eventually puked. By the time I went to the ER, the pain was horrible I was begging for relief. Upon an ultrasound I have several stones and sludge, but nothing that screams infection. I see a surgeon in 2 weeks. My question is, how do I manage my gallbladder? I don’t really want to remove it, but will if I cannot live my life. I am also 2 months postpartum and breastfeeding. For those of you who have gone through with removal, what is life like on the other side? Do you have urgent bowels after meals?
