Microsoft internship offer — can I still interview for another role at Microsoft?
I recently received a Software Engineering internship offer from Microsoft, but I’m more interested in eventually moving toward Product Management.
Before accepting the SWE offer, I applied to a Product Manager internship that recently opened at Microsoft. I also had a Microsoft employee submit an internal referral for the PM position.
My SWE offer has an acceptance deadline coming up, and I don’t want to risk losing it. At the same time, I’d really like to be considered for the PM internship.
Does anyone know how Microsoft handles this?
If I accept the SWE internship offer, can a recruiter for the PM internship still reach out and interview me? Or does accepting one internship offer automatically close/withdraw my other active Microsoft applications?
Has anyone personally been in a situation where they accepted a Microsoft internship offer and then interviewed for a different role (SWE → PM, PM → SWE, etc.) afterward?
I’m completely happy returning as a SWE if PM doesn’t work out. I mainly don’t want to accidentally shut down the PM opportunity by accepting my current offer.
