Was Mary truly a Virgin her whole life?

I’m sorry if this comes off as controversial, I’m a devout Catholic and love theology and Mariology.

I believe in the Theotokos, immaculate conception, and assumption but I can’t help but question the perpetual virgin case.

I believe she was a virgin thru the divine incarnation and nativity of Christ. But afterwards it would only seem logical that she had relations with her husband Joseph.

I believe this is also somewhat implied in scripture Matthew 1:25.

“But he did not consummate their marriage until she gave birth to a son. And he gave him the name Jesus.”

I’d love to hear some reasoning and deeper understanding on this devotional title.

Thanks and God bless!
