Hi guys,

Is anyone else a regular listener of the Ditch’s Party Line podcast?

It has a great line-up of guests and I’ll always listen to the latest episode but I can’t help notice how poor the production/audio quality tends to be episode to episode.

I thought it was initially in part due to the early episodes being from live discussions in the Whistleblower but I find I’m often having to play the episode at near full volume to listen to the conversation (and it definitely isn’t a personal audio/phone issue either as every other podcast I regularly listen to is fine).

Anyone else had this issue?

I was recently informed by my line manager that flexi cannot be built up deliberately and only can be accrued if it’s because of business needs, i.e. I can’t log on a half hour early or stay a half hour late in order to build up flexi for a half or full day off the following period, I can only add to my flexi if I have to be back late one day due to whatever work is needed. I was under the impression that this wasn’t the case and provided you’re not taking the p*ss, it was ok to accrue time on the clock?

I’m pretty sure my colleagues don’t abide by this apparent new rule either as they take the odd Flexi Friday or Monday off here and there as needed. I’m just looking for clarity as HR don’t seem great at answering specific system questions and just point everyone to a basic guide which covers the technical aspects of clocking in and out, corrections, etc.

My unit ebbs and flows in terms of how busy it can be but there’s never so few staff that the work can’t get done if someone takes a day off. I’d bring this up directly with my line manager but we clash from time to time due to working styles so I’d rather get my facts straight on the issue before broaching it in our next one to one.
