Slipping knife purchases past your partner?
I'm joking, not joking.
The old joke goes; you fear that if you die, your partner will sell all your knives for $25 each or give them away because that's what you said you paid for them.
I have a cunning plan to disguise my Shindo Kiritsuke as a Yoshida Bunka, which I recently got as a birthday present. I reckon if I find a handle similar to the Shindo handle and put it on the Yoshida I'll be able to use them interchangeably. Otherwise, I can say I just bought another $50 dollar knife.
2nd photo is photoshopped. 3rd photo is the closest I could find to the Shindo Smoked Oak handle - I don't think it's a close enough match. Anyone got a Shindo Smoked Oak handle they want to sell? :)
Like I said, I'm only joking. I once bought an $8K watch (I have a few nice watches) thinking my wife wouldn't notice because I had the same watch in a slightly different dial colour. It seemed to work for a while, until one day she asked if that was a new watch. Busted lol. My wife will actually be relieved about my buying more knives rather than watches.
Truth is, I do want to find a matching Smoked Oak handle because I really like it and I think it would look great on the Yoshida.
Has anyone else done something similar?
