Unexpected upgrade

Hi guys! Having an unexpected upgrade. I am a guy that likes to keep his little PC parts around and working for a long time.

2013 - 2018 -> 4670k/GTX 770. Beautiful powerhorse for the day.

2018 - 2026 (last week) -> 9700k/GTX 1070ti. Really has also been a strong pairing.

Now? I’m thrust unexpectedly into a market I don’t fully grasp. The power differences between my hardware and current are hard to fully grasp. I play everything for Battlefield to League of legends to tomb raider to LIKELY a lot more different types of games in 2027. Likely a lot more cinematic games too, since I’ll be a new parent and the pause button is important now.

From what I can gather, the 9800x3d is currently a front runner for long lasting power right now. Seems like it’d be smart to pair it with a 16 gb card for longevity (internet seems to doubt that the 12 gb will last another 6-8 years).

So if I go 9800x3d it seems like the best pair is between 9070 XT and 5070ti? What things do I need to consider? So many acronyms, it’s so hard. DLSS and a ton of stuff that my 1070ti never heard of.

Is there a different CPU I should consider?

If it’s not the 9070 XT or 5070ti, then what other cards to consider?
