Schroedinger's Game. The Rangers exist in a state of having both won and lost
On May 29, my fiancée was walking to work when the CDS delivered an emaciated, badly-injured kitten in her path on a sidewalk. The tiny kitten's right eye was swollen shut and had a discharge. Fleas and blood covered much of her fur, and had obvious injuries to a leg and her face.
I rushed to the scene, then took the little one to our regular veterinarian. They said she had traumatic injuries from being thrown from a moving vehicle. She also likely had tapeworms and other problems. She was also quite underweight and had probably not eaten in more than a day.
But from the start, it was obvious she was a fighter. We named her Artemis, or Artie, and nursed her back to health.
One month later, Artie is a beautiful eight or nine-week-old who has fully recovered and is an absolute delight! She is bursting with energy and loves to play with us and our (reluctant but increasingly tolerant) 9-year-old cat, Stevie. Artie arrived just days after we got engaged and has been a wonderful addition to our household. We're so lucky and grateful to have her!
Also, because I am a silly person, I gave her a full and proper name: Artemis Liberty Demolition Carew Garcia XXIX of House X****-X*****, First of Her Name, Feline Empress of Texas, Grand Duchess of the 254 Counties, The Unbroken, Khittensi of the Small Grassy Field
