More of a vent thread but I do have a solicitation for advice at the bottom.

Thought it would never be me but it happened yesterday. My partner during open play yesterday was older and is not physically able to return these shots.

I don't mind chasing them down as I still have the quickness to get behind them and calmly drop or drip it into the kitchen or close to it. I don't know what the guys we were playing in open play were trying to prove, but this was the third lob of the game with them beating us 9-3 at the time and I was getting a bit tired of it. I got to the previous two, but on this one, I tripped over myself while backtracking and getting into position and landed smack on my tailbone. Tried to walk it off but very next point I lunged for a drop shot at the kitchen slightly to my side and couldn't bend down to dink it. Walked off right then and there even though the game technically hadn't finished.

A bit of a sore wrist as well trying to break the fall but I definitely have a massive bruise on the muscle covering my tailbone. Bending down slightly absolutely sucks but once I get down there and past that I can bend all the way down to touch my toes.

I understand that even as a younger guy it could have been way worse, but getting up this morning was murder and am only able to function today because I had a little cereal with my Motrin this morning for breakfast.

Sucks that I'll be on the shelf a couple weeks. More frustrated and embarrassed more than anything. Angry at myself because I gave up soccer a year ago after breaking a bone and can't really afford sports related injuries with two small children at home. And I didn't even last 3 months before picking pickleball up and experiencing a physically limiting injury.

Had to cancel two clinics and questionable that I'll be 100% for when some out of town friends will be in town that will want to play 4 weeks from now.

Enough of my crying. What do you all do if you're on the shelf? Particularly if you had a similar injury. Were you hitting against a wall with limited movement to not lose handspeed? Any drills you know of that have a limit on mobility that I can do? I'll be watching film and youtube videos for further tips for sure.
