Tips: What I do with Lees/Trub
This is the lees/trub slurry that was on the bottom of my primary fermentation. After I safely rack what I can, then what’s left, I just l funnel/poor lees into an old kombucha bottle. I don’t worry about oxidation. Starts out murky and 100% mixed…but settles again within a day. Thinner bottles will yield more.
I usually drink it in a few days. I may do some preliminary taste adjustments. To get some ideas about final adjustments to the whole batch.
I just pull the clean portion off top, with a turkey baster and enjoy.
Anyway, it’s just a tip for an extra sip, that you were just going to toss anyway.
I’m also curious about taking the bottom and dehydrating it to use as either yeast in another batch or boil for nutrient
