Finally done iPod classic 7th
I finally wrapped up my 7th‑gen Classic build, and honestly. I kind of wish I had gone with the Boxy Pixel kit instead of the Moonlight one. The whole glue everything together approach and the tiny cramped space inside had me losing patience fast. I even dropped the LCD once, so there goes another replacement I had to buy. Then I swapped the battery too, took out the wireless charging because, let’s be real, I was never going to use it and upgraded from the tiny 850 mAh to a chunky 2000 mAh pack.
At that point I was thinking, man, Boxy Pixel would’ve saved me all this headache. I still don’t understand why Moonlight didn’t just design proper clip‑ons instead of relying on glue. Big sigh.
But to be fair, Moonlight isn’t terrible. “Kinda”, Once everything was finally in place, it looked kinda clean Sighss and worked fine. I’d give it a solid 6 out of 10. If you’re thinking about building one yourself, just know what you’re getting into. If I could redo it, I’d go Boxy Pixel without hesitation.
