What song did a movie permanently alter or ruin for you?
We’ve all seen movies that use music perfectly, but what about the times a movie completely hijacks a song’s identity forever? Whether it’s connecting a track to a deeply disturbing scene, blasting it in a trailer until you’re sick of it, or turning a great song into a cinematic punchline.
For me, it’s Quentin Tarantino using Stealers Wheel's "Stuck in the Middle with You" in Reservoir Dogs.
Before 1992, that was just a breezy, upbeat 1970s folk-rock song that people clapped along to on the radio. Now, thanks to that one specific movie association, it is physically impossible for anyone who's seen the movie to hear that cheerful acoustic strumming without picturing Michael Madsen casually dancing around with a straight razor. It completely warped how people hear a fun radio hit.
What is a song that a movie permanently changed or ruined for you, whether it was due to a specific scene, trailer overexposure, or a weird association you just can't shake?
