I’m getting conflicting info and looking for clarification. I have a new hemlock exterior door that I stained with Varathane Gel Coat (oil based) in Dark Walnut. I purchased Osmo PolyX for the interior side of the door and Osmo UV protection oil for the exterior side. Originally I read that these two products would work fine over the gel stain, but after doing more research it looks like it may not bond properly. Anyway that this combo can work? If not, my available options are pretty limited (varathane products, miwax spar, and maybe a few other standard off the shelf products). I could possibly order something on Amazon too I guess but would rather not.
The door is north facing and doesn’t see much sun, but it will get some water splashing on it off the deck (until the covered porch is built next year).
