I am looking for a book that gives a general overview of how the politics, economies, and militaries of european countries changed during the transition from the late medieval period to the early modern period, preferably up to the end of 1700's.

I see a lot of books that cover only a specific country on this topic, or specific events such as the 30 Years War. I am interested in finding a book that gives general overall information on Europe as a whole. I understand that the early modern period is a time when the modern idea of nations in Europe started to take shape, complex institutions developed to facilitate trade and industry, and both private militaries as well as standing armies were revolutionized. A book that generally covers those topics across all of Europe from the end of the 1400's to the 1700's would be perfect.

I'm don't need it for research or to write a paper, or anything like that. I just find that time period really interesting, and I'm looking for an enjoyable book on the subject. Any recommendations would be appreciated, but I'd especially appreciate any books that are written in a way that is simple and enjoyable to read
