I saw Brett Stephens with his dad last night as his dad unloaded a racial tirade on a black kid in my building.
My wife and I went out to eat last night. We get back to our building, walking in the lobby towards the elevator. Brett’s in front of us with an older guy who I assume is his dad. He was old enough to be and they looked alike.
There’s like a 12 year old black kid waiting for the elevators and his dad points at him and says to Brett “see this? $10,000 a month rent and I’m living with fucking homeless people?? Disgusting! They should’ve told me!” Then he points to the kid and says “you’re gross!” The kid didn’t say anything back. He got in the elevator and left. I felt so bad for him and I was about to say something like “you’re the disgusting one you old, gross fuck”, but I didn’t, and feel awful about it. I think I was shocked about what I saw and choked.
Not my finest moment. I hope that kid is ok.
