My younger brother had an accident some time ago and he is basically missing around nine of his front teeth . The oral surgeon/dentist that we visited said he would need about 7 dental implants which we didn’t have an issue paying out of pocket for.
However, they said they had to get preauthorizations with health insurance for the hardware removal in his gums which needed to come out before the implants go in.
They submitted the preauthorization around February 10th. So it is more than 2 months now.
Does it usually take this long to get preauthorization for this kind of procedure? Should I find a new oral surgeon because I am just googling around/asking Grok and seems like this long wait time is unusual?
Based in NYC if that changes anything.
