Friend has a backyard with extensive overgrowth of what I think is English Ivy. It's more or less contained to 1-2 areas of a large yard and it's fine save for where it grows over a concrete walking path. I tried a wimpy Ryobi weed whacker and it didn't make a dent. Don't really want to crawl on my knees and do it by hand with a pruner.

So: Is there a good (preferably cordless) trimmer that would slice through this stuff along the concrete edge of the path? Would an edger be better? I wouldn't mind renting something, but Home Depot only has a Mikita that looks like a circular saw on a stick. Attaching photo for reference on how I'd like for it to look. Currently, the stuff is taking over the concrete.
