21yo looking for advice / help.
I am about to be 21yo. I have minimal college credits (12-20 give or take) and college is almost entirely off the table. It’s not that I CANT do this whole degree thing.
I want to be an electrician and a damn good one. I grew up in a cabinet shop with my grandpa and dad, I’ve built dozens of PCs, I could work on any outlet in my parents house and I can do the math no problem. As I’ve dove into learning on what you all do this is absolutely for me.
I move to the Dekalb, IL area in August and I need to know every step to take to ultimately start working as an apprentice electrician to then obviously move down the path you’ve all taken.
My current resume stands as:
4 years of barista work at Starbucks (high school job)
1.5 years of cashier work at a gun club (more on the admin side of things)
With this in mind I know it’ll be difficult to find even just side help work under an electrician.
Any and all advice/help is greatly appreciated.
