First do they make a jacket for the byb for smoking in cold temps to help maintain heat? I've heard of guys using welding blankets but have also seen that those may have materials in them that shouldn't be left on the grill.

Second do the pellets you use effect how hot your grill can get? I've bought Costco pellets before but have never tried to get high temps, until the other day I wanted to hit 500 for a quick steak and it really struggles to get over 450, didn't remember having this issue with other pellets.

I have only had the smoker since November so just getting started(though I've done about 4 whole chickens, steaks, wings and sausage multiple times and my first ever brisket which turned out great!)
