A while ago I bought a bench grinder to sharpen some chisels, along with a 600-grit water stone. Since I liked the edge it gave them, I bought 1000, 3000, and 8000 grit stones to achieve a better sharpness. However, after trying them, I feel like the sharpness hasn't improved much, and I don't know if it's my technique or the stones. It's worth noting that I'm using one of those chisel guides, but it still doesn't improve. What am I doing wrong? What do you recommend? I want the best edge that an 8000-grit stone can give me.
