No body signals and constant hunger while taking buspirone/buspar.
Hi, I'm new to this sub 🙋♀️
I'll probably share my story in more detail soon, but for now, I need help.
My PSSD began in 2023. I was prescribed fluoxetine for anorexia and depression (which was actually a misdiagnosis because it was simply untreated ADHD). A week after taking the medication, I started having binge eating episodes, which persist to this day. I also experienced anhedonia, DRDP, no energy, no motivation, brain fog, etc.
About a month ago, my psychiatrist prescribed buspirone. At first, I was afraid to take it, but then I started taking it and have been taking it for two weeks now.
I'm seeing significant improvement in my motivation, energy, anhedonia, and my body isn't in constant fight or flight mode.
The problem is that I'm "hungry" 24/7. It's not the "hunger" I used to have, where I reached for food out of boredom because nothing interested me and I searched for stimulation (I could binge 5000 calories and still don't feel satisfied). Now it's more like "my brain isn't receiving satiety signals from my body." I didn't feel hunger, fullness, or thirst, and I felt much less pain before I started taking buspirone, but now it's like my brain is completely disconnected from my body.
Does anyone know how to "reconnect" with my body and wth is happening on the neurotransmitter level?
I should add that I'm also taking bupropion. Previously, my psychiatrist prescribed me vortioxetine and moclobemide, but they didn't help and actually made things slightly worse.
