Hi everyone, so I've had this rock for years, now. I can't remember where I might have purchased it from, but I've always been curious as to what it is. Tried breaking it in half to get a better idea of what the translucent part is, but it didn't do me much good. It has a hardness close to quartz so maybe a little under 7.0, reddish brown outter layer and the very clear orange layer inside. However, that orange immediately transitions to a white/grey translucent color the further in it goes. Google keeps saying agate, but I'm just not sure. Any ideas? Oh, and this is in Texas.
