Ordered a new Purple mattress, the delivery was a doorstep drop off, and I was at work when they dropped it off so I couldn't inspect it at the time. It was delivered in the purple plastic wrap, as opposed to inside of a larger cardboard box. When I actually could look at it, I noticed the plastic is ripped in a few places, it's not terrible but the fabric of the mattress is exposed in multiple places.

I called the store to ask if I could return it, without opening it, due to the damaged plastic wrap, and the store said I had to sleep on it for 30 days before they would accept a return or exchange, which was odd.

But one of the conditions of a return, is that it can't have any damage or stains? Bit of a catch 22, where if I open it and it is damaged, they won't accept it as a return. But they won't accept until I do that?

Is there any magic language I can use to get this return process started without risking being stuck with a damaged mattress?
