[Webtoon] Novels chapters 275 or 284 would've been a better ending for season 1 than this (271)

I just can't get it from storytelling standpoint.

Edit: If they wanted to do the gimmick, they could've ended on 51%. ch 270 is 49 and 281 is 51. 281 is also not a bad stopping point, btw

Manga sales don't seem to have a significant boost. Plus Google Trends show low interest in Japan compared to the rest of the world.

I'm just worried for BUG FILMS. They spent so much time and effort making it. They even postponed the season to not repeat Zom 100's situation.

Edit: I put in 'topics', not 'search terms'. Topics figure out what you're trying to find like 'manga series', while terms just search what's literally written. You can't choose language in 'topics'. If I change language of the website, 'topics' would usually be of said language, but it's the same thing as before. In comments, there's a picture of Japan's topics, but in French.

Ever since I watched FMA:B the first time, I had a feeling that the Promised day arc shouldn’t have been this long. I thought it was a kind of a drag. It’s not bad, it’s not mid, it’s good, but just a little bit boring. I mean, it takes 30% of the whole show. The final battle did not need all this time to tell its story.

The Promised day arc is considered to be the best part of Brotherhood and I can see why: it has a lot of great moments. However, this arc would’ve been even better it had tighter pacing. It’s hard to explain, but I feel like there are a lot of pauses in-between events. I think that before Briggs arc the story was more dynamic and eventful. And after comparing anime to manga, I found out I wasn’t hallucinating.

People say that the beginning is too fast, because the creators assumed you’ve already watched FMA ’03. But this fast pacing extends far beyond the ’03 material. Until Briggs arc each manga volume was adapted in 2 episodes on average and starting with Briggs arc it became 2.9 episodes per volume.

The difference is big; it basically means that 1.5 episodes in the second half would’ve been 1 episode in the first half. And I even have a conspiracy theory on why this happened. You can split the anime into 5 cours. Between a 2^(nd) and a 3^(rd) cour we had a filler/recap episode. This is a stretch, but I think this episode was supposed to symbolize a half-way point of FMA:B, because it should’ve been 4 cours long.

Then, there’s this weird coincidence that the last episode of Brotherhood was released only a month after the last chapter of the manga was released. I believe at one point animators realized they started too soon and began to slow the story down. I mean, the anime began releasing when the manga was far into the final battle, maybe the author thought she would end things faster. They could’ve taken a break, but I guess there were reasons not to do so.

Another hypothesis is that last chapters are much longer than they often are. Usually, there are 4 chapters in a volume, but the one before the last has 3 and the last one has 2. The last chapter is basically 2.5 chapters in 1. How else could it have been, ‘cause otherwise the production team would have had nothing to work with, since chapters came out monthly. I can see the author working overtime just to get it done before the anime ends.

Now, there is a common opinion that the Promised day was adapted perfectly and it was the first half that was too fast. Of course, the average speed of adaptation in the industry is 3 episodes per volume, just like the second half did. And even Daemons of the shadow realm, a new anime from the same author, has the same pacing so far. This way it would’ve been better to turn first 2 cours into 3 instead of having this weird change in the middle. However, in real world Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood is inconsistent in terms of pacing.
