Were the advent of technologies like “cars”, “computers”, or the “internet” met with as much discussion and action of job loss as AI is today?

At one point “computer” was someone’s job title. There were switchboard operators, mail rooms, typists, stenographs, people who drew CAD by hand, etc. which were all wiped away by computers and the internet. In recent discussions about AI, layoffs, and general sentiments it feels like the closest comparison of that would be the introduction of those technologies in our past. Maybe it’s because the speed of introduction was different?
