Rant - Small NDIS providers not paying workers correctly
Just a rant because this makes my blood boil;
I live in a rural area, and my mother works in the disability field as a support worker. She used to work for the local council however ended up leaving for a change in scenery. She since missed this line of work, the council stopped their services so she now works for NDIS providers.
Over the last 5 years she has worked for 3 of them, and all 3 of them have failed to pay her correctly. I know this because I myself am familiar with payroll as well as HR due to my work nature. It is absolutely insane. All 3 had arrogant accounts ladies trying to tell her it is correct and refusing to do anything until fair work was involved. In every instance she since told all of her fellow coworkers to look into their pays and they all settled it privately.
Is this just a small business thing or what? I just can't believe the consistency of the incompetent managers/owners. Everytime she has moved workplaces I brace myself.
Yes, all 3 workplaces were reported to the relevant parties including NDIS, but I was told their backlog was absolutely gigantic (I know, huge surprise) so probably won't hear anything back for a long time.
To add to it, this morning my friend who also works for a small NDIS provider got told by her manager that she won't be paid out money that is owed to her after she resigned 2 weeks ago.
