I was out hiking near Havering on the London Loop today (3rd May) and was making my way through a field just after 7pm when I heard and then saw this little bird in the throes of what appeared to be some sort of frenetic display.
It was flapping its wings at such a rate it could more or less hover at times. It was sort of circling as if looking for something, all the while cycling through a medley of quite varied calls that were audible from quite a way off and at some height.
Really quite an impressive little bird, so wondered what it was and if it was okay.
TIA
