Thermocap reads higher than dash gauge

Took these pictures right after I shut the car off. But I just recently replaced the radiator from a copper 2-core to an aluminum 3-core and added a fan shroud to help better with cooling. For additional safety, I went ahead and purchased a thermocap for the radiator that I’ve had on for about a week and half. I usually take the car on short drives so the dash gauge hasn’t had the opportunity to reach the center, which I think is about 180° but the thermocap typically reads about 140°-160° which appears to be higher than what the interior gauge is reading. Is this normal or anything to be concerned over? I’ve gotten mixed sources but most say the upper radiator tank should never read hotter than the interior gauge.

Rebuild vs new transmission

I’ve got a 1967 Mustang with a 302 and an AOD transmission in it. Long story short, the TV cable adjustment got messed up and it torpedoed the transmission.

I was wanting opinions on whether it’s worth just rebuilding the AOD (I got quoted for about $2K for the job) or just investing in a new one?
