TL;DR: Originally in the prequels, Yoda was tall. Disney has gone to great lengths to conceal this and has been replaced with a short version.
As many of you know, Yoda is an essential piece of the Star Wars universe. He has many iconic lines such as "Do, or do not, there is no try" and "named must be your fear, before banish it, you can".
However, if you've seen Disney's version of ESB available on streaming and DVD you'll notice his most iconic scene with Luke is missing:
>LUKE: How did you get so short, Master Yoda?
>YODA: Blown off by a clanker, my shins were. Killed fiddy men, I did, mmm
It goes deeper! Upon seeing this after remembering the famous line, I went back to watch the prequels and saw that not only was the scene of Yoda getting his shins blown off and his feet stitched to his knees removed, but he's short even from the beginning of TPM. They have systematically destroyed all evidence of the existence of tall Yoda. All that survives is a few scattered images that Disney hasn't managed to delete from existence.
But Why?
This begs the obvious question: why would they do this? I have a theory. What is Yoda known for? His wisdom. He is known as the wisest character in Star Wars due to his age and strength in the force. Now look at Disney on the other hand. They're just now releasing a The Mandalorian movie a solid five years after the hype for that show peaked and it turned into another Dave Filoni fanfic project. Clearly they are lacking wisdom.
So what did they do? They shortened Yoda from the prequels to extract the wisdom from his shins and use it for their own purposes. It's beautifully obvious.
However, there's a problem. Disney never fucking knows when to stop. They keep doing shit wayyyy after it has lost any utility in the hope that they can wring one more cent out of it. They're making a second season of that god-awful Ahsoka show, for example.
Given this fact, it's unlikely they'll stop at Yoda's shins. They are going to use him up completely and in ten years will be telling us that Yoda has always been an invisible microorganism the whole time. It's inevitable because they never know when to fucking stop. Even OT Yoda isn't safe.
So what can we do?
Cancel your Disney+ subscriptions (there's no reason to have one anyway now that we know we aren't getting another Tony Gilroy project), and call your representatives to demand that Yoda's height be legally enforced and criminalize further shortening of Yoda. Mandating all depictions of prequel-era Yoda be the same height as people around him is a good starting point. Lastly, if your friends continue to spread the Short Yoda lie, it's important that you cut them off; we can't allow the truth to be suppressed by people who tow the Disney corporate line.
