(WA) Gate I own locked by school district.
I run a child care center that butts up to a usually public access field. My parents have owned the property for decades and over 25 years ago had a gate installed in the fence between the field and our back yard. This acted as an emergency exit for its entirety and we paid fort he gate.
The school district is doing frase mowing and sprinkler work and are closing the field all summer and put a lock on my gate. They gave me a 6 day warning the field was closing and didn't respond to my emails. I've left voicemails. I am unsure if the gate is needed for my licence and i've left voicemails with my licensor and the license office in general.
Im just curious about my posible legal rights in this situation. If the exit is required, what would next steps be to keep me in business.
