Hi everyone, I have some questions regarding Physics MSc admission, apologies in advanced if these questions have been asked before.
Some personal info abt me, I'm a Chinese born and raised in Malaysia (my nationality is Chinese), but I'm currently studying in a nationally top ranked university as a final year student. I want to apply at November 2026. My first concern is that will these trigger the security screening? My field of study is not related to those dual use tech tho.
I also noticed that ETHZ has minimum requirement of gpa for students studying at certain countries, tho Malaysia is not included, I still wish to know the gpa bar they expected.
Since my university does not provide official ranking system, but I did have excellence in some courses, lecturers in charge of these courses are willing to write LoRs for me, they can include the rank in the corresponding courses. But my concern is, due to ETHZ recommends 2 letters only, excellence rankings in 2 courses are sufficient or not?
Moreover, how much the committee values research experience? If bachelor thesis counts, I will have 2 years of research experience as I'm doing an extra project with a lecturer in my uni now. And recently I received a position of research intern from a professor interested in my research at a Chinese university on their list of security screening, I'm hesitating cz idk if it would cause direct rejection.
TL;DR:
Will I experience and be direct rejected cuz of security screening?
Does experience as resarch intern in a listed uni make it worse?
Are mere 2 rankings in 2 courses enough? What else I should include in the recommendation letters?
Do they even care abt research experience?
Is there minimum requirement of gpa for applicants from Malaysia? If there's Malaysians or non EU got the admission/rejection I would love to hear from ur experience. 😃
Out of curiousity, what is ur experience in there as a theoretical oriented physics student?
